Whatever 12 volt battery is used it is not being expected to deliver a couple of hundred amps on a freezing col morning and as for a short life in motorsport use, perhaps abuse, both mechanical and charging practice are the main causes of this.

Just a bit of advice please. Awaiting delivery of Yuasa YBX5053 12 volt battery from Halfords, £89.95 including delivery. If I do NOT maintain a 12 volt supply whilst doing the change over what am I likely to have to reset or what data will I lose and anything else I should be concerned about ? I re...

Where I live alternative route not always possible. I had to make an emergency hospital visit in flood conditions and the only apparent outcome was a passenger window doing a partial up and down routine until it dried out I assume. No lasting effects.

I think it possible if your original battery has gone completely flat 3 times and depending how long it "sat" flat it has probably knackered itself. Lead acid batteries don't like sitting flat I'm told. You should be OK with the Yuasa, most bikes have this make, or any I've ever had.

I quite agree with you especially if say the "broken sensor" is fixable with a bit of superglue or a quick dab with a soldering iron. Anything to avoid the exorbitant prices dealers can charge.
