Re: Water drainage around charging port

I've never been worried about water ingress. I'm pretty sure the glass lid presses onto the rubber seal, and the plastic bucket around catches any rain or wash water. It then just drains out the drain holes in the bucket. I've never noticed undue water under the bonnet, just what splashes up from th...

Re: Keyless remote not detected

I don't think I've ever seen it. I had the flat fob battery warning once only. Is the key fob free from anything that might block its signal (EG, not in a bag full of electronics or metal). I'm not sure exactly where in the car the antenna is to pick up the fob, is there anything else fitted in the ...

Re: 12v Battery Best Practices

SOC is not useful to you. All 12v battery charging required a 'head' of voltage above the battery voltage in order to push the charge into the battery. By looking at SOC, you are limiting your observation to what it believe the SOC is. As far as I can work out, you cannot work out the SOC whilst it ...

Re: Android Auto Wireless

One way to rule out if its the car or the phone is to try and restart the phone in the morning before you make your commute. This is how I worked out that it was my own action of clearing active apps that was somehow killing the service off in the background. I wouldn't expect this to be the case on...

Re: Android Auto Wireless

I'd say mine has been better for a while now (think it was the last major AA update). I use android with the wireless rather than wired. There are 2 issues mainly. Firstly, the connection when working may disconnect, and then reconnect 5 or 10 seconds later. It's infrequent but 99% of the time is al...

Re: 12v Battery Best Practices

That battery monitor is useless - for just a few quid more you can get the BM2 which logs 30 days minute by minute. I'm pretty sure the charging only starts when the drivers door is closed. I think if you open the car, sit in, press the power button, put the seatbelt on but don't close the door, the...

Re: 12v Battery Best Practices

It won't help you in any way to see that the battery is dead if you have no means to start the car. The cheap BM2 battery monitor connects directly to the battery, and you can pick up via bluetooth the status and history. If you are close enough (not very practical admittedly) it can warn you that ...

Re: 12v Battery Best Practices

The cheapy BM2 battery monitor is still useful even out of range. It will log/store 30 days of data. You can then 'pick up' the data when you are next near, and have a look. I correlate with my CCTV to work out what happened when and see if I can explain any abnormalities (after a few months of use,...

Re: Sudden drop in charge

This is normal, I find that as soon as you get to about 12% it starts to disappears very quickly - especially at speed because the voltage drop is comparatively higher.
