sbullo wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2020 1:16 pm Does, anyone know exactly how the esim is switched over? Going to pop into dealer tomorrow, and they're not sure how it's done.
Assume the car has to be plugged into their diagnostics system?
From what little I understand, they use the Honda Diagnostic tool and they follow these instructions...
They use a Honda diagnostic laptop to do those changes to update the esim, I was able to watch the first attempt on my car because it was out the front of the dealership. However they also need a good WiFi connection for the laptop to communicate to the garage server.
Ahhh yes I see!

I visited my dealer on Monday just gone. They tried to activate it but said they were having trouble getting a connection to their servers. They showed me these dealership technician set up instructions that they had gone through telling me they got stuck at point 10. (please see attached).

My car currently says it is connected to the TCU but my phone won't show a pin on the screen of the car yet :(

I also got sent this Honda + Setup PDF from my dealer - but I can't use this as my phone won't show a pin on the car display :(
@TechJamo Try again tomorrow (24hrs later) because the dealer has to have added your car to the Honda back end system 24hrs before the owner can request a PIN for the MyHonda+ app. The dealer would have a bulletin explaining this.
Thanks for the suggestion - I've just tried again and it's not working :( perhaps I'm supposed to turn the car off during the connection process? I'm not too sure - I've had it on and I've also tried in accessory mode (pressing the on button twice without simultaneously pressing the break).

Unless the problem is my phone? (Oneplus nord android 10)

MyHonda+ We could not log you in (Custom).jpg
Ahh yes,

I got this after deleting my Honda+ app and reinstalling.

I had to sign out my Google account / delete cache and data from the chrome browser on my phone and then try to sign into the app again.

I've even tried using a different email for my Honda + app. However I still keep getting stuck at the PIN Section.

Make sure you have the latest version on My Honda+
I think should be 4.10.2
The latest Android version is 4.10.0 (10/08/2020)
Yeah I'm on android (Oneplus Nord) and my latest version is also 4.10.0 (10/8/2020).

@reuben80 - what phone / OS are you using to connect?

I have Blackberry Key2 but it upgraded to 4.10.2 inside the app itself from 4.10.0.
For the PIN have a look here.
He will show you how to show the pin in the car if it does not show automatically.

The dealer has managed to get the PIN part working and the app is now saying “Your subscriptions are activating”. Anyone able to say how long it takes for this to happen, it’s been about 18 hours so far.

The FAQ does not say that you have to wait more than 10 or 20 minutes. You need to keep the car on and stay in a good cellular area. If you go to the dealer to activate the subscriptions you should wait until they are activated not leave. No matter what the dealer says. They have no experience. I think you need to reactivate them yourself or go again to the dealer.

I wonder about the reason for the 20m wait. Perhaps it’s an OTA update that’s installed, because a normal activation is a split second job: vehicle ID + account ID -> store in DB after verification -> return response to car and phone. (Grossly oversimplified, but either way such a process is lightning fast)

@ TechJamo & @advance2020 Please can both of you take a photo the TCU status dropdown as I have?
I ask because even though mine states 'Connected', looking at the icon is implies that it is not.
I have used my phone as the car's hotspot & can now get a PIN but cannot complete the setup which make me wonder if it needs a correctly set up eSim to complete the activation.

BTW - The car's hotspot is designed (intentionally or accidentally, who knows) to only connect to a phone inside the car because it struggles to connect to an external access point.
