Since the e Advance has an electric front window de-icer/demister (the only car I've driver that has this since my old Ford Escort Estate Ghia!) I'm surprised there's no way to independently turn it on. Pressing the Front Screen button on the heather controls puts the blower on too (ok, I suppose), but the rest of the time it's supposed to work semi-automatically (I think).

I've noticed a couple of times now, since I have the heating off quite a lot to save energy, that every now and again the heating display shows the "direction" to be Windscreen only, but if I make any change to the heating settings, no matter what I try, I can't get back to that setup.

Have a look:

I wonder if that's part of the autodefrost option that shows on the app climate controls?

Weird, because according to the Owner's Manual you can't direct air flow to just the screen (something I noticed quite soon after I took ownership of my car). It looks like to get air to the screen you also have to have air to the floor vents. But I don't think I have tried pressing the windscreen demister button yet, to see what that does. In my Nissan LEAF it would just turn on the air conditioning, directing air to the windscreen, and also applying hot air to the screen.

Reading the Owner's Manual, it says that pressing the front windscreen demister button turns the air conditioning system on and automatically switches the system to fresh air mode, and that in the Advance model the heater inside the front windscreen will also turn on (page 249). I wonder if it displays the windsreen only icon if you've pressed the front windscreen demister button, so that you know that you've pressed the button?

No, see video. When you press the front delisted button, that button’s orange indicator illuminates, and the airflow indicator shows nothing.

Whoops, sorry! When I previously clicked on the link it came up with what I thought was a still photo - I didn't realise it was a video!

It must be outside temperature related because today I can set Windscreen only by either turning HVAC off or Auto.

Ah but if you then touch the “Mode” button, can you get it back to windscreen only mode?

Yes, just as I stated, by either turning HVAC off or Auto.

But surely pressing Auto doesn't change the current "Mode" (i.e. blower direction). Do you mean that if you change the direction to direct air down, for example, then press Auto, it reverts to windscreen only?

The solution is to press AUTO, though it seems to depend on interior/exterior temp to whether is shows the windscreen icon. Earlier today it did, without the fan running, however just now at 10:30pm it no longer shows, when pressing the windscreen demist button it directs air at force to the windscreen but no icon.
