In the Netherlands, you can have your car insured via the Honda dealer. It is an insurance which of course is placed somewhere else, Honda has no insurance company of their own, but it is a good deal. You get 10(!) years warranty (or up to 180.000 km) and that is also on the e. What matters most in the Netherlands is where you live, the bigger the city the more you pay. I pay something like 90 euros per month, for full coverage and the 10 year guarantee.

I haven't seen that available in the UK but it would be interesting to know how much you would pay purely for the insurance in NL. I pay only GBP 235 per annum (about EUR 280) which would make the warranty an expensive extra. I should add that I am 73 years old and don't live in a city!

Sorry to hijack this thread but does anyone have any recent suggestions for insurance in the UK from a prospective owner?

Current policy for my existing car is <£200 PA due to extremely low mileage. I can only seem to find quotes of approx. £450 - £600 PA with same low mileage. Is it really that bad?

Yes, UK car insurance up 40 to 60% in a year. Inflation coming down, sure....

My recent quote for my existing car was up by approx. 15% which I find acceptable but these e quotes are ludicrous!

Mine here (Germany) went up, too. By a lot. No incidents of any kind either. Insane.

As every year if you stay with the same insurance company.

I shopped around, as I do every year for a 1st Feb start and got it down to about a 12% increase, my wife's renewal due at the same time also increased a similar amount.
I looked also looked at multicar cover, but the cheapest was just under £1000 for the 2 cars and about £520 for 2 seperate policies.

Look at the MSE website for advice and comparison sites.

I looked at multicar cover but it was almost double the cost of seperate cover for myself & my wife's cars.

Thanks for that tip - price lowered ever so slightly but still almost double what I'm currently paying. Interesting to see that I could save quite a bit by having a slightly different job title. :-)

Also try quotes 2-3 weeks before as well, I saved about 10% on the cheapest quotes a week earlier.
