I’d like to hear from others about their experience with the heated steering wheel, I am wondering if we have a fault with ours or whether it’s just a design feature.

It would appear that the heating elements are just around the rim of the wheel where it joins the spokes at the 9 to 3 horizontal position. So in the conventional driving position of 10 to 2 it’s not very warm, at least not to start with and top and bottom 12 to 6 there’s barely anything, not that I use that frequently.

What’s your experience?

I believe that's exactly as designed. Certainly how mine operates.

Thanks I suspected as much, a bit of a shame as the heated seats are so good, but still welcome in the cold.

Yeah, it's the first time I've ever had either on a car (the e is my first ever new car) and the seats are to my mind, *amazing*. The wheel takes the edge off for cold hands for sure, but it's nowhere near as powerful as the seats.

I think the plastic inserts fool the mind that it isn't warm in those sections as those bits are chillier than the leather.

Impressive bit of real data, I must download that app from the App Store 😜

Clearly the whole wheel is getting some heat, there’s just more around the spokes so a couple of hot spots that my chilly hands migrate to. - thanks

Yes, same here - definitely most heat is around the spokes but it does spread out after a bit. Certainly better than not having it though- one of those features that sounds like a gimmick at first, but now I've had a couple of cars with it, I'd always make sure that my car had the option if available.

P.S. Reuben80 - those thermal camera pics are fantastic, thank you!
