Extended warranty

Hi all,

Our e is just about to have its 3rd birthday and as such the main warranty cover will expire. Our Honda dealer have quoted £329 to extend the warranty for 1 year or £599 to extend for 2. I’ve looked on a few price comparison sites and can’t find anything massively cheaper than the 2 year price.

We’re planning on keeping the car for a bit longer so I’m tempted to take out the warranty, but just wondered if others had extended their warranties and whether they’d had any good/bad experiences of doing so?

With how much parts and labour will cost if something goes wrong, personally, I would just get the additional warranty. The only good experience is if you buy it and you don't need to use it, or that you don't buy it and you're lucky to not need it / aren't concerned about repair cost or downtime if you do.

I actually registered just to reply to this specific topic and add my 2C. Hello everyone!

As an owner of a 3y and 2 month old Hone E advance in Blue i had an EBS (Red brake fail warn on the dash) pop up just outide of the warranty.

Took it to dealership and the total repair cost quoted was almost 3k! after a near heart attack Crowne Honda (my local dealer) said they would request a good will repair from headoffice.. 2 weeks later they did the repair for around 1800 GBP which i was told was the cost of the part! had to pay as car was undrivable (like losing all brake hydralic asssitance on a combustion vehicle)

They then offered me 3 years extended for about 900 GBP, which couldnt afford it after repair bill but next service ill be looking into getting it added!.

by the way, when this happened to my car i did some googling and did see a few owners reporting same fault, Honda deny theres an issue but off the record my local garage said they have had a lot of cars coming back with this fault after 2 to 3 years, hope this helps.

EDIT: ++ , forgot to also add, this part was on back order and took 2 months to arrive in the UK! luckily i work from home and this is my run around vehicle-- just a FYI, hope you people dont suffer the same issue as me with your own vehicles, that is the biggest ive had.. if i get time ill upload part number details as i saved the receipt as its the most expensive car fault ive had the misfortune to encounter

This is the infamous brake servo issue it looks like, and yeah this is why you need the warranty, the parts for this car are ridiculously costly.

Although this particular problem is really something that Honda should be fixing free of charge, I’d raise hell if they charged me only £1800 as a goodwill gesture for this!

My german e warranty expired this year in January.
My Honda dealer offered me a two year warranty extention from AllianzWarranty GmbH for 529,00 Euro.

Upon reviewing the details, it appears that the dealership managed to cover their costs, effectively without any loss. Here's a breakdown:

• Diagnostic fee

• Labour (i.e. shown as customer contribution) which looks to be about 2.5 hours, with Dan Drlinkin saying he could probably repair his again in around 2-3 hours

• Brake fluid

with the 50% discount on the part being covered by Honda UK themselves.

This is definitively *not* a warrenty issue! You should not be paying anything. Ask your money back.

This is affecting about 14 different Honda models. They should replace it for free, but are trying to scam Europeans while they are doing the fix in Japan for free (not by choice). If you tell them there has been a recall in Japan, escalate the issue, they back down. But it takes some "convincing". It's ridiculous really.

Failure of this part can have life threatening consequences and is subject to a recall in Japan. Honda is just dragging their feet in Europe, because they either don't want to spend the money on a recall, or they simply don't have enough replacement parts while to servicing their Japanese clients.

But upon further reading, this might actually be yet *another* issue. It's hard to keep up with the safety issues not being addressed by Honda.
