Went to local Honda dealer and information was rather sketchy. They seem more geared up for selling CRVs.
Going to go for a follow up visit to try and nail things down.
I've been in contact with Honda Twitter team but no reply given at all.
Amazing car but UK team don't seem ready for it.

Sad that the dealers STILL haven’t got their sh1t together. Agree Honda UK Twitter are terrible.
Have you got a reservation deposit down on the Honda UK website?

I am going into Crown Soham Honda on Thursday to do the deed. They seem to be better rated than my local dealer. I want Platinum White Advance but would prefer smaller 16" wheels despite being the same price!?. I have 17" on my Suzuki Swift Sport and they are vulnerable near curbs and make the ride a bit harder despite looking better. I will be the first they have dealt with so I'm crossing my fingers that it will go smoothly. Any tips?

I was leaning toward the 16” rims myself for that very same reason, we always curb our wheels. I also actually thought maybe the all-black of the 16s looked better against the yellow, but to my surprise my wife (who’s car it will be) actually preferred the look of the 17s, so we stuck with those as the default in the end.

Good luck with the order!

2017 30 kw tekna

It’s my second. I had a 24 kw before this.

Love them!!
But this morning I was lucky enough to be invited by Honda to a media filming event where I was allowed to climb all over a shark yellow one whilst they filmed me and got my reactions.
I have to say that the pictures and vids online DO NOT do this car justice. Up close and personal it is gorgeous!!!
Very reminiscent of a mk1 golf. But It looks like it has been carved out of one solid piece of material! Very impressed with all the details on the car. Even in this stage the panel gaps are close and everything works!
Gave it a right good going over. The interior is surprisingly roomy. Plenty of space for four of me, lol and I’m not a small delicate flower!
Boot is a nice size just a bit smaller than my leaf but not by much.
Seats are comfy driving position is good. But saving the best till last, the infotainment system is amazing! Definitely streets ahead of any other car out there except perhaps the Tesla. But even then it’s close. Nippy response to all inputs. The screens are v bright and customisable to whatever you want. Honestly it’s like a giant iPad. Audio sounds great too.
Everything was working as far as I could tell lol even the heated seats.
I tell you, getting back into my leaf after was like stepping back into the dark ages....

The next 6 months are going to draaaaaaag even more now!

You were lucky to get invited to that event! I missed the Design Museum visit which was a bore. That's a great vote of confidence from a "real person"- sounds brilliant.
I went to the garage today to firm up some details and they had a lot more information which really helped me feel more confident.
I was told June delivery for the first wave.
One small sticking point was if the Government withdrew the £3500 OLEV grant before payment as there is no clear information if this should happen.
We would hope that Honda would honour it or at least go 50/50 but the garage felt that the grant should still be around for a while.
I think this grant should stick around for a couple of years until the public start converting in waves, so we should be safe.

Wow! Serious envy mode activated here!

I worry the overall wow-ness may have somewhat clouded your objectivity however - “Boot is a nice size just a bit smaller than my leaf but not by much.“ - On paper the Leaf has a boot volume of 435 litres vs the Honda e’s 171 litres. That makes the e more than a bit smaller than the Leaf, by much!

Do you know when the filming will be aired (YouTube)?

Prolly agree with the wow ness factor!! Lol
I was really only looking at whether I can fit my dog in the back!!
I have had a couple of pictures through which make the car look great and me look horrible!!
No idea when it will all go live though

I have bitten the bullet and ordered from Honda Crown Soham, just in the nick of time for the 31st deadline.
Amazingly simple ordering process, about 4 fields to fill in on his computer and the order was shot off to Japan.
I was expecting a ream of paperwork and questions.
Went for Advance in Platinum white on the 16" wheels.
Exciting experience- first time I've ever bought a 30k car "blind".
They quoted June delivery- does that correspond with your predicted dates?

Not sure about the buying “blind” thing. You’ll get to see one in the flesh before you actually pay for one, at which point if you don’t think it’s right for any reason, just pull out. To quote the dealer we went to they’ve “never not returned a customers deposit”. That was right before actually taking £0 deposit 🤪 I think he wasn’t aware that Honda UK automatically refund the £800 reservation fee.

As to the date, our dealer’s info showed “P1” 2020, which he suggested is the first period of their financial year - April to June. More recent press speculation has specified June at the earliest.
