To increase the range change your driving style, no firmware will increase the range. Also range at 80% will never show you the same. It depends on the last couple of trips effeciency to calculate the range.

Some Tesla models got a range increase from over the air firmware updates earlier this year.

+1^
Firmware is the exact reason why the Honda is so inefficient. Consider how efficient other BEVs are like the ID.3.

80% indication dosen't matter as based on last few drives.
Would be better to report miles covered after 80% battery used, along with miles per kWh.

More likely it's just one part of a whole package of inefficiency.

The hardware is what it is. With software update Tesla just allowed more of the battery's unusable charge to be used but will degrade more the battery.

It'd be interesting seeing what people with 16" wheels are getting.

My 17" wheels are one factor as is the cold times of day I tend to travel, (I work 3 shifts) it's significantly better in the afternoons (especially a dry one with a tail wind)

Obviously the all battery is the biggest factor maybe in five years time when the magic solid state batteries with super high density and rapid charging times (note my cynicism) there could be a pack replacement that could transform this car?

There was was a firmware released at launch and models had to be updated by dealers , I was wondering what number firmware everyone had, so I can double check I've got the right one.

The firmware update was done before delivery to dealers. I've not heard of a dealer performing the update yet, although I would like to think that they should be able to do it.
