Infotainment - Show GMaps/Waze & Podcast Simultaneously

To be able to use the infotainment system to show an Android Auto navigation & podcast/music app simultaneously:

Once the phone is connected to the car on one screen, select HDMI on the other and you'll be able to use the second display to control/show the audio app (i.e. podcast player).
I can't take photos showing my phone connected, however here is the setup I have showing the HDMI icon on the left bank.
Can someone check whether Apple CarPlay can also display different functions simultaneously on the 2 displays.

I managed to borrow my wife's phone for a quick photo showing the Android Auto Google Maps & Pocket Casts podcast apps displayed concurrently, once I realised that I should move the map so that it's not showing my home location (which is nowhere near that star in Eastleigh):

Isn't the HDMI input disabled unless the car is in Park?

I'll have to try it with CarPlay, just need to find a lightning - HDMI adapter.

It doesn't use the HDMI input, it just shows a second Android auto compatible app, I was using it for audible along with Waze this morning successfully, just using the usb input.

Hmm, doesn't seem to work on my first attempt (this is with phone connected). Switched left hand screen to HDMI after phone was connected.... this is probably user error on my part?
