Hi all!

I absolutely love my new Honda e, but there is one thing I’ve been missing, and thats an armrest! So I took it upon myself to try to make one, and I am rather pleased with the result so I thought I’d share the process with you guys!

I wanted the armrest to complement the chilled «living room» feel of the interior and opted to make it out of wood and fabric. I went for stained oak and a brown rough fabric as I thought it would fit well with the existing colors and style.

I got a piece of oak that would fit well with the width of the middle console.

I added padding to the top of the armrest to make it as comfortable as possible

I then added the fabric. I have never done any type of lining of fabric so it took a bit of trial and error to get a decent result.

When I was happy with the cushion, I moved on to the support. I figured I could use the mechanism of the existing dividers to fix it to the console. I cut two pieces of wood to length and shaped it so it would fit snug into the console.

I then bolted them to the existing plastic dividers such that they would snap into place and be held securely.

After the legs were done and fit nicely into the console, I moved on to staining the wood with a dark brown lacquer oil.

I then fitted the whole assembly together and made sure to pre-drill all screw holes to avoid cracking. I also pitted the screw and bolt holes to hide the bolts/screws.

I am very happy with the final result! Although it does not match the existing wood exactly, I think it adds a nice character. And it is very rigid and comfortable!

There is a thread elsewhere for a 3D printed arm rest that can be purchased
Hi,

Does anyone miss an arm rest between the two front seats? I always had one in all my cars and it feels really awkward without one. Im currently making one to slot into the tray separator slots. As soon as its done, i'll post some photos. I was just wondering if im alone in this, or If any of you are missing it too. I even called my dealer if you can buy it as a accessory but they don't make one.

**UPDATE**
you can now buy it here:
