Hi folks - despite only having the car a few days I have scratches all over the black plastic handles, which given that these gloss black plastic parts are usually soft as butter, not surprising. Its always worse when you go from a pristine surface to one that has a few scratches. Once its hazed to hell its almost better - I'm sure you have all been there.

Anyway I have some meguiars plast-rx that I have used for similar jobs in the past and I'm fairly confident I can rectify it - but its only going to happen again - just wondered if you folks had any recommendations for protection?

Thanks

Do you mean in regards the front door handles?
I just use the auto pop out function, so only have to touch the underside to open or top to close and not the shiny outer surface.

Haha gloves yes. I'm considering it. This is in reference to the black handles on the rear doors

Doh!, stupid me I should have read the thread title

Lucky I don't often have many rear passengers, so it's usually me that opens the rear doors.
As you've highlighted they do appear to be a scratch magnet and for that reason I'm acutely aware of being very careful when opening them.

A quick blast of scratch X on a microfibre pad sorted it. I'm not convinced it was me that caused it tbh, the other one has been used more and is blemish free. Might have been the guys at the garage when they were cleaning it.

When are people going to invent cars that remain immaculate?? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I've considered black vinyl over them... I had the car with only 2 days... 3 family kids wanted to see the car and scratched them almost immediately...😌 I've learned not to look πŸ˜‚

Have you maybe thought about PPF?

Paint Protection Film is designed for just this - transparent, can be cut to shape and protects the paint underneath.

And when that gets scratched up, peel it off and replace it :P
