I have no connection to the dealer but got this offer earlier this week:

Good afternoon,

As mentioned on the previous email. We are currently giving a massive discount on the 2 new Honda E’s we have. We are giving a huge savings of £13,500 of the vehicle price!

As you can imagine we have had a lot of interest in these vehicles. If this is something of interest, we are able to take a deposit of £500 over the phone to secure you this amazing deal we are currently giving.

Kind regards,
James Clover
Sales Executive
Marshall Honda York
Advance, Charge Yellow, little wheels, 3pin home charger.

Three years ago these dealers told us that they made zero profit on the Honda e
Now somehow they can discount them by £13,500 each

Careful with that one. All of them for that matter. It's a white honda e,10 miles. But the dealer is trying to hide the true age of the car. It was a 2021 produced car and has been sitting outside for 3 years. Tyres are from 2020 (you can check from tyre side walls) also, look at the vin of any of these remaining cars. This one the 10th digit in the vin is M which is the manufacture year letter for 2021.

The thing that gave it away, at the bottom of the windscreen, they missed cleaning an area that had moss growing. You could even see some of the green discolouration under one of the door handles.

So left outside, not driven in 3 years, and how much do you want to bet battery was left to run flat? You know how lithium batteries like that. The 12v is probably a goner too, unless they replaced it. Those tyres will have the mother of all flat spots and will perish within a year of it being driven at best.

Well, dealers were making zero profit on it.
And worse, Honda was making about a £10,000 loss on each Honda E.

The reason they discount them now, is to avoid a £15,000 fine *per car* for not hitting the 2024 22% EV sales mandate. Apparently, they'd rather have the money go their customers than the government.

If they thought like than sooner... maybe just maybe there would be more Es on the road.
Their greed when selling the E got them nowhere... and even then... (2020) when it first arrived, they had to pay the fines because the sales didn't cover the bill.

Now that they announced their partnership with NISSAN (better soon than latter), I think they are starting to open their eyes... each month they are losing market share to Chinese companies, even European ones like Renault.
The new Nissan micra will be based in the Renault five... so one can dream that the Nissan - Honda partnership could bring a new E.. not sooner than 2026 i'm afraid but there's still a chance.

If you believe that, then you'll believe anything.
New & used cars have been subject to cartel's since the beginning of the car.
One single example, Just look at the companies currently owned by Constellation Automotive Group and their obvious collusion.

I have previously spoken with one of my now retired neighbours that used to be a new car salesman from the 60's on and he admitted that back in those days there were very dubious negotiations between the new & used car dealers and auctions to artificially effect car prices in their favour at the expense of the consumers.
