AS previously stated it was a cold day, however it's worrying that 4C is classed as extremly cold...

I've just recently finished reading all 687 pages of the manual. I knew I'd seen the tortoise symbol somewhere, the high temperature warning was the first I came across when scrolling back, interesting that it's used for both HIGH and LOW temperatures.

No 🐢 for me this morning even though it was only 1°C, though I had used the pre heat function before I got in the car.

I knew I had seen this on here somewhere.

I got the turtle/tortoise/shielded reptile last evening:

Went for a 11km drive from home, -2c, no preheating. Parked for about 20mins, and got the turtle.

Went for a 10min drive this morning in -4, no preheating, the turtles still there.

I assume it’s because of the cold battery, but I’ve just never seen it before this winter. Also didn’t seem to have an impact on acceleration (I tried flooring it)? Is it just a warning then?

I jumped in the Honda today, drove 1 mile on the slow stuff, then straight on to the dual carrigeway, floored it up to 70*, whereupon I get a flashing tortoise on the dash!!! So ease up on the go pedel.. and... Tortoise goes home...

Was this because I'd jumped into the car without prewarming the battery? It was 4C outside at the time?

At this moment, I have to say, I have not read the manual from cover to cover............. the answer may lie within.. but then... then... I wouldn't get to post on this forum, and be social.. and it's times like this that we need to be social.. because.. It's lockdown.
*Probably
Turtle is easier to spell in a hurry, but watch out, Keith is a devil for the detail, but joking apart, yes I have had a similar experience.

I was approx 5 miles from home, driving on A303 Dual carriageway, driving at 60+ up a steep incline, cold day, not sure exact temp but let's say 5°C max and drawing quite some power from battery. The “turtle” icon only flashed up briefly, as I was now up the hill and slowing as twin track changed to single lane. Was a little surprised, but having checked manual it made some sense, being cold, even though I had plenty of stored energy in battery.

So thanks Bogga for sharing.
I keep my car in a garage, so battery would not be that cold when I set off, but adding wind chill during 2 miles at 60-70 could be a factor.

That is worrying that it can't keep the temperature up while driving in the cold...

The preheat is only for the AC inside of the car not for the battery that is still outside the car.
