Just came across some message in German that the Honda E should be capable of that...

Is that truly the case, or is there something missing today in hardware or software on the E?
Then next question, what sort of charging station is needed for this?

The idea is deliver back to the house when electricity is expensive, and take when cheap from solar 8-) .
Obviously would not look forward to have the Honda E's battery flat in the morning, after having done a marvellous job on optimisation!

Still the cost of similar battery as the E has installed in Switzerland would be something like around two-thirds of the new price of the car!

The short answer is No.

The longer answer is that supposedly the Honda e was built with hardware & software that was V2G capable before any standard was ratified & there was a collaboration between Honda & Vattenfall to design a EVSE capable of supporting V2G. This was touted as being an option under the e:Progress product range, however in the UK they are yet to deliver L2 chargers, let alone V2G options.
One of the reasons I purchased my e over another make/model was the possibility of V2G, however my hopes of this becoming reality have long since faded away.

I think this this is something that was carried over in the media from the JDM - in Japan the e uses Chademo which is V2G capable.

Surely you're not suggesting that 'journalists' make stuff up & are too lazy to do a proper job?

Have a read of this, which is one of many Honda e V2G announcements last year:
https://hondanews.eu/eu/en/corporate/me ... -islington
Honda is installing five bi-directional electric vehicle charging points at Islington Town Hall in London, in partnership with smart charging specialists, Moixa. The initiative will help Islington Council electrify its entire vehicle fleet; part of its efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030.

Are there any other CCS v2g systems working currently? Maybe someone near Islington should pop over and get some info?

I wouldn't believe all you read, especially where a journalist is paid for a 'story'.

All Japanese EVs have to be V2G capable.
Only Chademo connection works with V2G currently. Octopus Energy are doing trials with Nissan Leafs. CCS is in development. I attended an Octopus webinar 6 months ago about V2G, asking the question when will CCS be available? They said the protocols are being developed. 2 to 3 years away.
It will be a critical step to balance the grid.

I attended one of these as well, however even though I had already bought my Honda e, I would have seriously considered the Leaf lease V2G trial with the one of the carrots being able to keep the V2G Quasar Charger (they retail at about £6.5K) after the trial had ended, the issue was that I'm just outside of the area covered by the scheme.

Thanks all for your kind words, I have learnt some more!
But why are our European Honda E's not suitable, does it miss some hardware, or would this be fixable by some software in the future?

Ask Honda, only they know but from my experience of their lack of transparency don't expect a straight answer.
