This refers to applying the parking brake automatically when the Power button is switched off.
Has anyone set or unset this feature? Page 304/305 in the manual.
It sounds useful - is it?

The only reason that I can see for changing that is if you live in a country that is subjected to very cold weather and there's a possibility of the brakes freezing on when left parked up.

Lon,
I think we are talking about opposite events.
As I understand it, when I stop the car (with this function enabled), hitting the Power button to turn off power will select the transmission Park AND put the parking brake on.
Maybe you already have that set?

Yeah its standard on my last car so I enabled it right away, works perfectly. I still check for the P sign though, as you should.

I'm confused by your reply, you originally asked if it was useful and I replied that the only reason that I was aware of to switch this off was to stop the parking brakes freezing on in very cold climates.steveal wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 2:41 pm Lon,

Reading page 502 of the online version (which I didn't realise had different page numbering to the printed version) provides additional information regards activating and deactivating the automatic parking brake feature:
Activating and deactivating the automatic parking brake feature
In cold climates, the parking brake may freeze in
place if applied.
When parking the vehicle, chock the wheels and
make sure the automatic parking brake feature is
deactivated.
Also, when putting your vehicle through a
conveyortype car wash or when having your vehicle
towed, deactivate the automatic parking brake
feature and leave the parking brake released.

I'm not sure, I can't see anything in the manual about the default setting, I definitely remember making a change to this and it is now currently set to apply the parking brake automatically, so I can only assume that it could well be deactivated by default, though I'm sure someone else can confirm this either way.
