Importing the E into the United States

Post by sf1 » Sun Feb 23, 2020 1:38 am

It's really too bad they decided not to sell the E in the US, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to import it to here from Europe?

There is a 25 year rule for importing cars (on the surface for safety reasons, but really to protect dealers), but wondering if there might be a way around it for an electric car.

I'm not sure that article is totally accurate, there are lots of little things you have to do to bring it into compliance with US regulations. I don't think the side mirror cameras comply with US regulations currently...which is why Audi didn't offer them here on the ETron.

That could well be a key reason Honda aren’t targeting the US market with the e then, since conventional mirrors aren’t even an option.
